Halloween is such a fun time around our house. We don’t make a big deal out of it, but the kids do really enjoy going trick or treating with their cousins. My sister lives a couple blocks away and she has a large family and our kids get along really well with each other. Our kids are of similar ages and they just love each other so much. It’s really fun to watch them grow and develop their love for one another.
My mother has a fun time planning a Halloween party every year for all of her grandchildren that live close enough to her to come. That’s about 18 grandkids and 12 adults including my aunts and siblings. Mom always has really fun simple parties. We get together, wear out costumes, play some Halloween games and eat healthy Halloween food. Mom never serves candy or very many sweets. That’s partly because my son has diabetes and my Mom and I have hypoglycemia and we shouldn’t and don’t eat sugar.
That’s what I had in mind when I looked for good healthy Halloween recipes. I kept thinking in my mind, is this something my mom would want to serve at her party? My mom has served some these in the past parties in fact. My mom is getting a little bit older and the parties are getting to be a little bit of a burden on her. So every year she looks for healthy treats that are easier and easier to make. Some of these treats are super super easy to make. I am definitely going to tell my Mom about them. She’ll definitely love numbers 3, 4 and 7. They are super duper easy. My mom also likes things that can be made ahead of time, like the day before. So that she doesn’t have to be rushing around just before the party and be stressed out that she isn’t going to get everything made before the kids get there. She wants to enjoy her grandkids in their costumes and not be stressed out.

Just so you know, if you want to use any recipe that has chocolate in it and still be eating Clean, you need to use Enjoy Life chocolate chips or bakers chocolate with no sugar or other things added.

These are the cutest little decorative Jack O Lanterns that are also a nice healthy snack, side dish or party food. I think they are cute but not scary. Perfect for kids and oh so healthy plus they are definitely easy peasy to make which means quick too. That’s what you need when you’re rushing around trying to get everything ready for a Halloween Party.

Every year before Halloween when we carve our pumpkins we look forward to roasting the pumpkin seeds. They are our reward for all the effort we go to dig all the slimy guts out of the pumpkin. Toasted pumpkin seeds are delicious and really healthy but for me they hardest thing is that they are really expensive if you buy them in the store. That’s why I like to make my own. They are best when they are still warm.
